Dancing With the Stars Season 12:

Predictions About the Celebri-Leaders, from a Leader

Dancing With The Stars is a Dance crazed outlet for mediocre celebrities trying to get back the status of what once was.  If that’s the case, then this is a cast that I can live with.  Mainly because these stars are actually people that I remember and others that are actually still relevant.  How exciting!  I think ABC got it right this time by at least getting the good combination of Stars that still have a name regardless of where they came from.

Since the Star studded cast is quite big, we'll start with the dudes first.  Or as we will call them, "Celebri-Leaders".

First up is the Actor category....

Dancing with the Stars Season 12:

Predictions From the Female Perspective

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 12:  From the Female Perspective

I’m pretty impressed with the new season’s cast, and professional selections. Here are my totally unfounded opinions (reminder, that as a woman, those opinions are legally allowed to change at any time) of what I expect the rankings to be for the upcoming season:

Is My Partner Better than Me?

Is My Partner Better Than Me?

By Chris Lynam

When my wife and I would do shows or compete she was usually the center of attention.  This turned into a running joke.  I’d tell people that during one of our dances I typically leave the dance floor, drink a cappuccino, and return in time to bow with her… and no one would notice.  I will say that it took some time, and adjustment, to get to the point where I could kid around about that sort of thing; since prior to that, I was like most guys – I thought my dance partner was a better dancer than me.

This is an all too common problem for anyone that learns to dance as a couple, as opposed to just working with a teacher one on one.  In this article we will break things down and eliminate this huge misunderstanding.

Dance Responsibly:

The Skinny on Social Drinking for the Social Dancer

If you drink, make sure you dance responsibly and if you dance, make sure you drink responsibly.

I drink the occasional alcoholic beverage. My favorite drinks are cocktails that involve flavored rums mixed with diet soda. Although I am not a huge fan, I will also drink beer if that is what is available. I never developed a taste for any sort of wine, so I will usually abstain when glasses are available.

On some occasions, I like to drink alcohol and dance. In a typical night club, they make their money selling drinks. In most of the dance halls I go to, alcohol is not sold or provided, but you are allowed to bring your own. Wherever your social dance location happens to be, there is a good chance that alcohol is available and I know that I am not the only one.

Alcohol, as the great social lubricant, can have many positive effects on social dancing. It can loosen and limber the body and make movements more fluid. It lowers inhibitions, so asking partners to dance becomes a less stressful experience for the timid. It can also help bring a smile to your own face which is an often overlooked element to social dancing. Unsurprisingly though, there is a dark side.....

Live to Dance Season Review

Live to Dance Season Review

by Terra Rindels

Live To Dance Review…comments were held to the very end (seriously, just finished it off the DVR).

I have to tell the truth: I was wrong. I came into the show with a jaded perspective on TV dance competitions and was, week-by-week, forced to raise a surprised eyebrow at the voting results. Here’s what I initially thought:

1. It’s not going to be as good as its predecessors (ie. Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance,     America’s Best Dance Crew, Star Search)

2. Probably low budget production, being a copy of a copy show.

3. No good ballroom couple will make it far (SYTYCD auditions or the middle rounds of DWTS for example), and if groups are included then how is any pair going to compete with the spectacle they are sure to perform (as in America’s Best Dance Crew)?

Now here’s why the show is arguably BETTER than those that have come before...

The Curious Case of the Missing Choreographers!

The Curious Case of the Missing Choreographers!

Controversy?

What the executives at ABC want you to know is that the celebrity dance teachers on Dancing with the Stars are miracle workers.  In my opinion, if you can take a non-dancing celebrity and get them television ready with zero dance experience - you are a miracle worker.  What the ABC executives don't want you to know is that the teachers don't have all the answers.  Why?

Good Question.

Don't Call Him Carlton

Wednesday, February 2, 2011 2:30:14 PM America/Los_Angeles

Excerpt:

Then I turned around and there he was:  Alphonso Ribiero, of Fresh Prince of Bel Air fame.  We finished the song and people clapped.  I gave him a head nod as any rock star would to a fellow colleague and before long it was me, Daisey, Snow Urbin, and Alphonso closing out the party.
